If you were going to follow one pro volleyball league, my pick would be the Italian League. Once referred to as “the NBA of volleyball”, the money, the culture, and the passionate fans attract most of the best talent on the men’s side of the sport. Only 3 Italian players need to be on the court at once, which means there is lots of room for foreign players to shine. The league has been dominated by a “big 4” of teams the past couple of seasons (Lube, Perugia, Trentino, Modena), but almost every one of the 14 teams has at least one player who could be considered a star.
